We initially booked the place for a simple dinner for my mother’s birthday- but after looking through the Lunar New Year menu we decided to go with the Good Luck Menu.
Everything tasted so good, and everything felt thoughtfully prepared and served. The highlight was no doubt their yu sheng, which was colourful, healthy and delicious. My personal favourite was the dessert, which brought a delightful end to the meal.
Plus points for their wonderful service and how they do the layouts for their tables and seats- everyone kinda gets their own little private area without being 100% cut off.
Really great place for private dining but I think it’s important to read up on what dishes to order before coming because there are some really good dishes and some that were a little disappointing.
Started with their specialty Lou Saang, I quite like this better than the usually Lou Saang because it’s a lot healthier and it’s a nice twist.
Had their 辣子鸡 and caramelised egg plant. Both were delicious, I personally don’t like my 辣鸡子 too 嘛 so this was nice.
The dumplings are a miss. It’s not vinegary enough and tastes mostly like sesame oil. Asked the staff for more black vinegar but i think they pre mix the sauce with a lot of sesame oil. While
the filling is nice, unfortunately i won’t recommend this dish.
The beef shin with tangerine is not too bad, the flavours gel together very well and it’s definitely a unique dish not commonly found at other restaurants. But i wouldn’t say it was amazing
Finished the meal with seafood 泡饭arguably one of the best dishes; the rice was crispy and the soup was flavourful and peppery. Would recommend everyone to have this as their last dish as a palette cleanser.
Went there during last CNY. Really appreciates very much of the staff who arranged everything. Including the bottles of wines that we brought. The lohei was tasty & healthy. It was a set meal, every dish was so delicious
Led by celebrity chef Heman Tan, Szechuan food is yummy and authentic. 辣子鸡was nicely cooked, not oily or too spicy, just nice. The eggplant was amazing, nice, crisp on the outside and soft and tender on the inside, coated nicely caramelised.
The food here is seriously excellent. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good, nice Chinese meal. The caramelized eggplant is a must order. The wagyu steak was fantastic as well, very melt in your mouth. Dessert wise, I had the mixed tangyuan which was amazing. Service could be a little better, felt a little cold. Maybe it was just that day. Nonetheless I would still go back!
Xi Yan Maxwell is a true gem for those seeking a culinary journey that pushes boundaries and delivers exceptional flavors.
I had an unforgettable dining experience
Attended a private event in the afternoon. Nice ambience with a good taste of decorative items. No or little service provided. Tea and water were chucked to the tables and no staff will attend to you. Food was served and the quality is not to my expectations.
We are honored to be invited to a wine pairing dinner at Xi Yan by Wine List Asia.
The theme of the food for that night was Chinese food fusion with some Japanese elements. It went well with wine from Satori and we all had a insightful discussion on how each of the wine has its own unique characteristics and how versatile they were.
What I like about the restaurant is it’s interior decor and personal collection of porcelains, pottery and tea ware of the owner.w
We enjoyed the dinner with great company and good wine from Satori by Wine List Asia. The wines made the food enjoyable.
